Passenger flights
Baggage information
Cabin baggage
The maximum dimensions for cabin baggage are 50x35x16cm (Length x Height x Width), and the weight must not exceed 5 kg. All cabin luggage must be securely stowed either in the overhead locker or under the seat in front of you.
Prohibited Items & Dangerous Goods.
Most substances classified as dangerous materials are strictly prohibited on board. However, a few specific items are permitted under strict conditions:
- Matches/Lighters: You may carry one small packet of safety matches or one individual lighter on your person (in a pocket). These must not be placed in your cabin or checked luggage.
- Liquids: Must be in containers of 100ml or less, fit within a single clear, resealable plastic bag.
Checked-in baggage
The standard maximum dimensions for checked-in baggage may vary, but total linear dimensions must not exceed 158 cm. To get your total linear dimensions, you simply add the exterior measurements together: Length + Width + Height = Total Linear Dimensions.
Note: You must include the “extras.” This means measuring from the very bottom of the wheels to the top of the handle (when retracted), and including any side pockets that might be bulging out.
Typical popular dimensions:
- 68x45x30cm=143cm
- 76x52x30cm=158cm
The maximum weight per bag is 20 kg; however, this allowance may vary depending on your specific flight route. Please refer to your booking confirmation for the exact weight limit applicable to your journey.
Prohibited Items & Dangerous Goods.
The transport of substances or materials classified as “Dangerous Goods” is strictly regulated. Such items may only be transported in accordance with the latest version of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR). Certain items are strictly prohibited in checked baggage, while others may require prior approval from RAF-AVIA or specific packaging.
Liquids
Liquid Restrictions for Hand Luggage
The following restrictions apply to the quantity of liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) carried in your cabin baggage:
- Container Size: Liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml each. (Note: A container larger than 100 ml is not permitted, even if it is only partially full.)
- The Transparent Bag: All containers must be placed in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag. The bag’s capacity must not exceed 1 liter (approximately 20 cm x 20 cm).
- Quantity: Each passenger is permitted to carry only one such bag, which must be presented separately for security examination.
Exemptions & Special Items
- Medicines & Dietary Requirements: You may carry essential medicines, baby milk, and baby food needed for the duration of the journey. You may be required to provide proof of authenticity (such as a prescription or medical letter).
- Duty-Free Goods: Liquids purchased at the airport must be kept in a sealed security bag provided at the time of purchase. The item and the receipt must remain inside the sealed bag until you reach your final destination.
Checked Baggage
Any liquids that do not fit within the 1-litre re-sealable bag must be packed in your checked baggage. There are generally no volume restrictions for liquids stored in the aircraft hold, provided they are not classified as prohibited dangerous goods.
Handling and Responsibility for Damages
The primary purpose of baggage is to protect its contents. At the airport, baggage is processed through automated systems and rapid physical handling, which may result in normal wear and tear.
RAF-AVIA is not responsible for minor surface damage to checked baggage that does not affect its functionality. The airline’s liability for damage, loss, or delay of checked baggage is limited by Regulation (EC) No 889/2002 and the Montreal Convention. As of 2026, the liability limit is set at 1,519 Special Drawing Rights (SDR) per passenger. If your baggage value exceeds this amount, you may benefit from a higher liability limit by making a Special Declaration of Interest at the check-in counter (subject to a supplementary fee) or by obtaining private travel insurance.
Exclusions from Liability
The airline is not responsible for the following:
- Protruding Parts: Damage to wheels, feet, pull-handles, or telescopic handles.
- External Attachments: Loss or breakage of external locks, zippers, pull straps, or security straps.
- Fragile & Perishable Items: Damage to items of a fragile nature (including musical instruments and sporting equipment) or perishable goods.
- Specific Gear: Damage to child pushchairs, buggies, car seats, or prams.
- High-Value Items: Damage to designer bags, jewellery, electronics, or other valuable items.
- Late Acceptance: Baggage accepted after the official check-in closure time.
- Manufacturing Issues: Damage resulting from manufacturer defects or inherent vice of the baggage.
Passengers are strongly advised to ensure all articles are insured to their full value. RAF-AVIA recommends purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for all checked baggage.
Dangerous Goods
The carriage of dangerous goods by passengers is governed by the ICAO Technical Instructions and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. These rules permit certain items to be carried on one’s person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage, as specified in the standard permissions table.
Approvals & Restrictions
- Prior Approval: Certain items (such as chemical agents, specific medical equipment, or large lithium batteries) require formal approval from the airline. Requests must be sent to RAF-AVIA Operations at ops@rafavia.aero at least 24 hours before scheduled time of departure.
- Security Overrides: Please be aware that local state security regulations may be more restrictive than RAF-AVIA policy and may forbid certain items regardless of airline approval.
Battery & Device Safety
For the safety of the flight, passengers must comply with the following:
- Immediate Reporting: Inform the cabin crew immediately if a device (phone, laptop, power bank) is damaged, overheating, produces smoke, is lost, or falls into the seat structure. Do not move your seat if a device is lost, as this may crush the battery.
- Charging Restrictions: The charging of power banks and spare batteries is strictly prohibited during the flight.
- Stowage: All Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) in checked baggage must be completely switched off and protected from accidental activation.

Seating
Emergency Exit Row Seating Policy
To ensure the safety of all passengers, those seated in emergency exit rows must meet specific safety criteria. By occupying an exit row seat, you agree to assist the cabin crew in the event of an emergency evacuation.
Eligibility Criteria To sit in an emergency exit row, you must meet the following conditions:
- Age: You must be 12 years of age or older.
- Physical Capability: You must be able-bodied and capable of assisting in an emergency (e.g., reaching, opening, and lifting an aircraft exit door weighing up to 25 kg).
- Independence: You must not require the assistance of an escort, a service animal, or airline staff.
- Communication: You must be able to understand evacuation procedures and crew instructions provided in English, and be able to verbally convey this information to other passengers.
- No Dependents: You must not be travelling with an infant, a child, or any passenger who would require your assistance during an emergency.
- Consent: You must be willing and give your full consent to provide assistance as directed by the crew during an evacuation.
Safety Briefing
Passengers in these rows will receive a specific safety briefing from the cabin crew. If you feel unable or unwilling to perform these duties at any time, please inform the crew so that you can be reseated.
Children and Infants
At RAF-AVIA, we are committed to making your family’s travel experience as safe and comfortable as possible, but due to cabin configuration, RAF-AVIA may accept only 2 (two) infants per flight.
Baggage Allowance
- Infants (under 2 years): Infants are entitled to a checked baggage allowance of 10 kg.
- Essential Gear: In addition to the baggage allowance, one collapsible stroller/pushchair or one car seat may typically be carried free of charge (stowed in the aircraft hold).
In-Flight Safety
- Infant Seat Belts: For infants travelling on a parent’s lap, a special supplementary infant seat belt will be provided by cabin crew. This must be used in conjunction with the adult seat belt during taxi, take-off, landing, and whenever the “Fasten Seat Belt” sign is illuminated.
- Child Seats (CRS): RAF-AVIA does not provide child safety seats. However, you may bring your own approvedcar seat (Child Restraint System) on board, provided:
- A separate seat has been purchased for the child at the applicable child fare.
- The seat is FAA/EASA approved for aircraft use and fits within the aircraft seat dimensions. If the cabin crew will not accept the seat, it will be placed in the cargo compartment and children shall be placed on a parent’s lap or nearby seat. Note: Use of a personal car seat is subject to available space unless a seat has been pre-booked.
Baby Strollers and “Delivery at Aircraft” (DAA)
For your convenience, RAF-AVIA provides a Delivery at Aircraft (DAA) service for collapsible strollers and pushchairs. This allows you to use your stroller through the airport terminal up until the moment you board the aircraft.
Procedure for Passengers:
- At the airport check-in desk: You must present your stroller at the check-in counter to be weighed and tagged with a “Delivery at Aircraft” (DAA) label.
- At the Gate: You may keep the stroller with you until you reach the aircraft door or the bottom of the boarding stairs.
- Boarding: Before entering the aircraft, please collapse your stroller. Our ground staff will then collect it and place it into the aircraft’s cargo compartment for the duration of the flight.
- Upon Arrival: Depending on airport safety regulations, your stroller will be returned to you either immediately at the aircraft door upon disembarking or at the oversized baggage carousel in the arrivals hall.
Note: Please ensure all loose items (toys, cup holders, or bags) are removed from the stroller before handing it over to staff, as the airline is not responsible for the loss of unattached accessories.
Preparation for the Journey
We recommend bringing all essential supplies for your child’s journey, including nappies (diapers), baby food, and comfort items. Please ensure any liquid baby food complies with the 100ml security exemptions for essential items.
Pregnancy
At RAF-AVIA, the safety of expectant mothers and their unborn children is our priority.
Please adhere to the following guidelines based on the stage of your pregnancy:
- Up to 28 Weeks: You may travel without a medical certificate, provided there are no known complications.
- From 28 to 36 Weeks: A Doctor’s Statement (Medical Certificate) is mandatory.
- The statement must confirm that the pregnancy is “normal” and that the passenger is “fit to fly.”
- The certificate should be issued no earlier than the 27th week of pregnancy.
- You do not need to submit this document in advance, but you must present the original copy at the check-in counter and/or boarding gate.
Important Deadlines
- After 36 Weeks: For the safety of the mother and child, RAF-AVIA cannot accept expectant mothers for travel once they have reached the end of their 36th week (or 32nd week for multiple pregnancies, such as twins).
- Boarding Policy: Failure to produce a valid medical certificate when requested may result in denied boarding.
Note: These regulations apply specifically to flights operated by RAF-AVIA. If your journey involves a connecting flight with another airline, please check their specific requirements, as they may differ.
Travelling with Animals
At RAF-AVIA, we understand that pets are part of the family. To ensure the safety of all passengers and the welfare of your animal, the following regulations apply to all flights.
Pets in the Cabin (PETC)
Small dogs and cats may be carried in the passenger cabin provided they meet the following safety and health requirements:
- Species: Only domestic dogs and cats are permitted.
- Weight & Size: The combined weight of the pet and its container must not exceed 8 kg.
- Container Requirements: * The pet must be carried in an IATA-approved soft-sided or hard-shell containerthat is leak-proof and bite-proof.
- The container must fit entirely under the seat in front of you.
- The animal must be able to stand up, turn around, and lie down naturally inside the container.
- Hygiene: The pet must be clean, healthy, and odourless.
- Baggage Allowance: If you are travelling with a pet in the cabin, the pet container replaces your “standard” cabin baggage allowance. You may only bring one small personal item (e.g., a handbag or laptop bag) in addition to the pet container.
- Capacity: To ensure comfort, we limit carriage to one pet per flight.
- In-Flight Conduct: The pet must remain inside the container for the entire duration of the flight. If the animal causes a disturbance or requires extra cleaning, the crew may take necessary actions, including the potential removal of the pet at the next available stop.
- Limitations: Due to aircraft configuration, RAF-AVIA allows the transport of 1 animal per flight at passenger cabin.
Pets in the Cargo Compartment (AVIH)
- Due to aircraft cargo compartment configuration, RAF-AVIA do not carry animals in the cargo compartment.
Assistance Animals
RAF-AVIA welcomes Recognised Assistance Dogs (such as Guide Dogs or Hearing Dogs) in the cabin free of charge.
- Exemptions: Assistance animals are not subject to the 8 kg weight limit or the container requirement.
- In-Flight: The dog must be equipped with a harness and sit on the floor at the passenger’s feet. It must not block the aisle or emergency exits.
- Training Proof: Passengers may be required to provide official documentation proving the animal has been trained by a recognised professional organisation to assist with a disability.
- Notice: Like all animals, assistance dogs must be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance.
Procedure for Passengers on How to Book
Animal carriage is not available for online booking. You must request approval directly from our operations team:
- Email our operations department here.
- Deadline: No later than 24 hours before your scheduled departure.
- Information Required: Please include the pet’s species, weight (including container), and container dimensions in your email.
Reduced Mobility
At RAF-AVIA, we are dedicated to providing a seamless and dignified travel experience for all passengers. To ensure we can provide the necessary support, please review our assistance procedures.
Safety Limitations
In accordance with EASA safety regulations (CAT.OP.MPA.155) and Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006, RAF-AVIA may limit the number of Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) on a single flight. These limits are not discriminatory but are based on strictly defined safety criteria:
- Evacuation Ratios: The number of PRM passengers must not exceed the number of passengers capable of assisting them in the event of an emergency evacuation.
- Aircraft Constraints: Limitations may also apply due to the physical size of the aircraft (e.g., Saab 340) or the capacity of the cargo hold to safely secure multiple large mobility devices.
If a group booking exceeds these safety limits, our Ground Operations team will work with you to clarify the nature of assistance required and may propose alternative flight options or the use of accompanying safety assistants.
Before the Flight
In accordance with EU Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006, you must notify RAF-AVIA or your travel agent of your need for assistance at least 48 hours before your flight departure. While we will make every effort to assist passengers who provide less notice, a 48-hour notification is required to guarantee that specific equipment and personnel are available.
Mobility Equipment
- Free Carriage: You are entitled to the carriage of up to two items of mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchair, crutches) free of charge. This is in addition to your standard baggage allowance.
- Battery-Powered Wheelchairs: We transport most battery-powered mobility aids. For safety reasons, you must provide us with the battery type (Dry-cell, Gel, Lithium-ion, or Spillable) and the device’s weight/dimensions at the time of booking.
- Note on Spillable Batteries: Contrary to older rules, spillable batteries can be transported provided they can be loaded, stowed, secured, and unloaded in an upright position. If the aircraft type does not allow this, the battery must be removed and packed in a special protective container.
At the Airport
- Check-In: We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before departure. At check-in, please confirm that your assistance request is correctly logged in our system.
- Continuity of Care: You may generally remain in your own wheelchair until you reach the aircraft door. At that point, your chair will be tagged and stowed in the hold. If your wheelchair is electrically powered or large, airport safety rules may require it to be handed over at the check-in counter, in which case an airport wheelchair will be provided for your transit to the gate.
- Priority Boarding: PRM passengers are typically invited to board first (pre-boarding). This allows our crew to assist you and discuss your individual needs in a private and relaxed environment.
During the Flight
- Seating: For safety reasons, PRM passengers cannot be seated in emergency exit rows. You will be allocated a seat with a movable armrest to facilitate transfers. To ensure the safety of all passengers, PRMs are usually assigned window seats (A or F) so that they do not obstruct the path of other passengers in the event of an emergency.
- In-Flight Assistance: Our cabin crew can assist you with moving to and from the aircraft toilet (using an on-board wheelchair where available). However, they cannot assist with:
- Feeding or drinking;
- Administering medication;
- Lifting or manual handling inside the cabin;
- Assistance inside the toilet.
- Personal Assistants: If you require help with the functions listed above, you must travel with a personal assistant.
After the Flight
- Disembarkation: To ensure a safe and unhurried transfer, PRM passengers usually disembark last.
- Assistance to Onward Travel: Staff will meet you at the aircraft with your mobility aid or an airport wheelchair and assist you through arrivals to your next mode of transport (taxi, bus, or connecting flight).
Travelling as a Group
If you are travelling in a group of 2 or more passengers requiring mobility assistance, please contact our OCC department at least 7 days in advance. This ensures we can verify the aircraft’s hold capacity and ground handling capabilities for multiple large mobility devices.
